Living with eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis (AD), can feel like a never-ending battle: constant itching, sleepless nights, one treatment after another. We invite you to learn about our clinical trial researching a potential treatment option.

We’re working closely with dermatologists to see if an oral study medicine (one you swallow) is a potential option for moderate to severe eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis (AD). If you decide to take part, you’ll receive care from a team of dedicated specialists and you could help us continue to make progress for atopic dermatitis (AD) research.

Who may participate

You may be able to take part in this clinical trial if you are:

  • Are between the ages of 18 and 64 years old
  • Were diagnosed with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (AD) at least 6 months ago
  • Do not have a suitable prescribed medicine for atopic dermatitis (AD)

There will be other requirements that the study team will talk about with you.

Joining a clinical trial is an important and personal decision. We thank you for considering taking part as something that may be right for you.

Answer a 5-minute questionnaire.

A first step as you consider this study is to answer a 5-minute online questionnaire about your health and medical history. If your answers show the study might be a good fit for you, you may choose to be referred to a specific study clinic that you select.

Speak with a study representative.

If you’re interested, you will then be asked to provide your contact information for a study representative to contact you and discuss the next steps.

Confirm your eligibility.

Your answers to these questions will only be linked to you if your responses indicate that you may be eligible to participate in this study and you choose to share your contact information with the study team. Pfizer study team members and our partners will have access to reports containing aggregated data that will not be directly linked back to you. Only the study staff can determine if you meet the study’s eligibility criteria and are able to enroll in the study.

What to expect

If you decide to take part in this clinical trial, you will start the Screening Period where the study team will check labs and see if this clinical trial will be a good fit for you.

The Screening Period takes about 1 month, followed by about a 3-month Treatment Period. After you have finished the Treatment Period, there will be about a 1-month Follow-up Period. The clinical trial will last for a total of around 5 months with about 9 in-person visits.

During the Treatment Period, 75% to 80% of participants will receive the study medicine and 20% to 25% will receive the placebo. A placebo looks just like the study medicine but doesn’t contain any active medicine.

About atopic dermatitis (AD)

Moderate to severe eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis (AD), is a long-lasting skin condition. It usually causes:

  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Dry or cracked skin

Atopic dermatitis (AD) often runs in families and can happen because of a sensitive immune system or stress. Living with atopic dermatitis (AD) often means dealing with symptoms that affect your sleep and daily life. These symptoms can vary over time and change in intensity, often getting worse and leading to what many refer to as “flare-ups.”
