The Pfizer Clinical Research Unit (PCRU) in New Haven invites both new and existing volunteers to visit us for a generic screening for adults with specific medical conditions.
The purpose of this screening is to identify potential candidates for current and upcoming studies at the PCRU, especially those who would be interested in asthma clinical trials. Your results will be used to create a snapshot of your current health that can be used to pre-assess your eligibility for studies and update your records, which may help us offer you more appropriate trials in the future.
Completing this screening is not a commitment to participate in a study and you will still need to complete a study-specific screening if you choose to participate in future trials.
Who may participate
Clinical trial participants are an essential part of medical research. While participating in this generic screening does not include taking a study drug, it can help us understand which studies might be a good fit for you and can also give you first-hand experience of our site and how clinical trials work if you are new to research or the PCRU.
This screening is seeking adults with a current diagnosis of mild-to-moderate asthma in otherwise good or stable health, meaning no major changes to health status, diagnoses, or medications over the last several months. If you’re unsure about your status, you can give us a call and we will assess this with you over the phone.
In addition to the criteria listed, participants must be:
- Willing to travel to our facility in New Haven, CT
- Comfortable with medical procedures like blood draws
- Interested in future clinical trial participation
*participants may be eligible to receive a bonus for travel, ask our staff for details
There are other requirements for participation in this study. The study staff will explain these to you during the screening process.
Do you know someone who may meet these requirements? Refer a friend and you may be eligible to receive a bonus.

What to expect
If you would like to take part in this screening, you can click “Get started” and contact us by phone or by completing and submitting the form at the bottom of this page. You will then be contacted to complete a pre-screening over the phone, which involves answering some questions about your demographics and medical history to see if you would be eligible for this screening. Then we’ll make an appointment for you to come in for the in-person part of the screening.
The in-person screening involves a more thorough review of your health history with our clinical staff, an exam, plus health tests such as a blood draw, blood pressure checks, and ECG. All of the procedures will be discussed with you prior to any data collection and your participation is always voluntary.
After completing the screening, a staff member will follow up with you typically within a few days to share your results and let you know about upcoming trials that may be of interest.
Completing this screening is not a commitment to participate in future studies and you will still need to complete a study-specific screening if you choose to participate in a trial.
