Though the risk of severe COVID-19 in children in much less than that seen in adults, it is not zero. Since the start of the pandemic, children from all age groups have experienced severe COVID-19, hospitalizations, and long-term complications. Even with mild or no symptoms, children may be at risk of developing MIS-C, a rare but life-threatening inflammatory condition related to COVID-19.
The CDC and American Academy for Pediatrics recommend getting your child vaccinated to help prevent symptomatic infection, severe illness, and long-term complications of COVID-19.
